So, the news is that Take That is going to reunite for a tour, sans Robbie Williams.
Yawn.
Sorry, but Take That is not Take That without Rob. I mean, they tried to carry on when he left but look at how miserably they did. No go.

But good memories, I have, of Take That. For a period of time, when I was still clad in my light blue pinafore, I was crazy about them and adored Robbie to the max. Every week, I would splurge on the Brit mag, Smash Hits, just so I could read articles about them, see their pictures (and subsequently fantasize about Robbie) and then put up their posters in my room. I’d doodle their logo, two encircled Ts with one inverted on top of the other, all over my books and as a “tattoo” on my arms.

At the time when the iPod was still buried somewhere in the deep recesses of Steve Jobs’ ultra intelligent brains, I made do with a dinky little Walkman which I bought for $39, a princely amount back then. Perfect 10 987 was my station of choice and every night, I would slot in a blank tape into my ageing cassette recorder to tape down Pray and other Take That hits so that I could have something to listen to when I make that hour long journey to school at 6.15am.

Then, I had a classmate Lisa who really typifies the stereotypical SCGS girl, with her well-to-do background and her penchant for sharing Gucci and Armani clothes with her mother. But the thing about Lisa is, she was really a nice girl and no snobbish biatch. She would buy all the Take That tapes, CDs and concert videos and then loan them to me, knowing that such extravagances were beyond me.

Ah, as with thousands of girls worldwide, my heart broke when Robbie upped and left the group. I watched and re-watched the video of the last single they released as a group, Never Forget, indulging in my beautiful memories of them and swooning over Robbie’s baby photos.

Nowadays, when I hear Pray on the radio, I would be set adrift on memory bliss again. Okay, the lyrics can be cheesy and the music is dated but what the hell.

I heart Take That.

Take That!

I heart Take That too!
I love it that Mark and Robbie had such chemistry [non-sexually of course] together. Still remember there was this vidz where they pretended to surf - with a real surfboard no less - along a road and almost got caught by the police. hiaks~
