Ah my limbs have turned into stone.

Okay, this is going to be a quick one cos I am so damn tired.
Just got back from Gold Coast last night, hence the silence.
Was on a free (*ding ding*) trip thanks to my cousin who was some high achiever in her company and rewarded with a trip to Gold Coast with a spouse (ie me). All 300 high achievers were there for the 4 days, 3 nights event. Insightful trip, which told me exactly what I need to do to future my career but no time for that today.

This morning, I woke up bright and early to take part in the Singapore Marathon, together with Trevor, Popartgirl and Shitimonster. No, we were not gungho enough to run the full marathon (all 42.195km of it) but opted for the lesser quarter marathon of 10km.

Boy, was it tough. Considering that it was the second time I had run outdoors for such a long distance, and that I had just returned home from Australia the night before, I think I did not bad. Plus, I was such a lazy bugger, I only had one session of Bodycombat, one 12-lap swim and one 20-minute weights session for the whole of November. No wonder I almost died.

Well, obviously that was an exaggeration. Judging by the clock at the finishing line (no, there wasn’t any Chariots of Fire booming out of the speakers, accompanied by slow-mo running), I did slightly under 1 hour and 20 minutes. Considering that I had wanted to finish under an hour and a half, it was definitely better than expected. But I couldn’t help but wish that I had done more to prepare for the run and that my timing would be much better than that. Popartgirl probably did about 10 minutes faster than me, and Trevor, five. Shitimonster lived up to his name and was hindered because of his, errr, need to poop during the entire duration of the run. But that’s another story for another day.

Kudos to tight-ass-Topo, who completed the quarter marathon in an astonishing time of 60 minutes. No wonder her ass is so hot, we used to revel in ogling at her behind while she walked. And to Yenew, who surprised me because I never knew she was going to run. Also a shoutout to my gor, Huckerby, who managed to finish the complete marathon (is he mad?!) despite spraining his ankle recently.

Gosh. A marathon is so damn addictive.

Did I say this was going to be a short post?

Post-marathon, check out how gross I look

[...] Gotta push the mind to its limits. If I can run through the longest hour of my life, if I can climb the treacherous steps of Angkor Wat temples, if I can prepare myself for the hike up Huang Shan in July, I can do anything. Really. [...]

[...] Hence, the most remarkable thing about today’s run at the gym was that it was my first time working those knees since the Singapore Marathon exactly six months ago. Plus, I was sniffling quite a bit in the morning and was afraid that my errant nose would turn nasty on me and block itself up. I did it at a very slow and steady pace of 8.7km/h, pushing to 10km/h for the last two minutes, and for only 20 minutes. Although the end result is not too great - only 4km - I was rather satisfied.
