You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead

Last Saturday, we had one of those mother of all fights.

The sort where we were both feeling angry and frustrated and incredibly hopeless at the same time. The sort where two people can be talking and yet no one is listening. In the end, however, we managed to get through to each other and the barrier broke amid fervent apologies and impassioned promises never to take each other for granted.

Of course, there isn’t one relationship that is perfect and honestly, one without some sort of tension once in a while can be rather dull. In the buildup to the wedding, we are probably going to yell at each other at least once again. But we acknowledge that we are flawed beings and that our views will clash occasionally and it’s in how we deal with the problems that will help us become better at living with each other.

Did we do it well this time? Probably not. Are we going to handle such disagreements better in future? Hopefully.

In the meantime, I am counting to the ninth Christmas that we are going to spend together. It’s coming in less than 30 days, hurrah!

I really, really love Christmas.
